Dental Implants in Lewisville, Tx
If you are looking into dental implants to replace one or several missing teeth then CareWay Dental can help. Your dental implant dentist will tell you that implants are often the treatment of choice and is also one of the most conservative treatments for tooth replacement. These missing teeth should be replaced, otherwise your remaining teeth may move causing your bite to collapse.
How Does A Tooth Implant Function?
Dental Implants are a different way of replacing lost teeth as they are fixed in your jaw bone so they function more like a natural tooth. They can be used to replace a single tooth or they can replace several teeth to hold a fixed dental bridge. Or they can be used to secure removable partial or fixed dentures.
The Implant Denistry Process
First your implant dentist will use a number of diagnostic tools such as a Cone Beam/CT scan so your implants can be placed with accuracy, and with minimal risk.
The initial stage of the dental implant surgery is to place implant post into the jawbone and is usually done under a local anesthetic. The implant site is then left to heal so the post can integrate into the jaw bone.
The next stage of the surgery happens between three (3) and eight (8) months later. At this time a healing cap is placed in the implant site to shape the gum tissue which in turn gives support to the crown or bridge.
The final stage is to place a metal sleeve known as an abutment into the implant. This will be used to hold the dental crown, bridge or denture firmly into position.
