Dental Fillings in Lewisville, TX
Dental fillings need to be done when your family dentist notices decay on your tooth. The dentist then removes the decay from the tooth which leaves a cavity and then fill that area of the tooth with composite tooth colored or resin material.
Types of Filling Material And What is Right For You?
- Composite (Resin) Fillings - Made of a mix of acrylic resin and powdered glass-like particles that produce a tooth colored filling.
- Porcelain (Ceramic) Fillings - Made of all-porcelain materials include porcelain, ceramic or glass like fillings and crowns. This material may not be recommended for molars because they can be brittle and prone to cracking due to biting force.
- Amalgam Fillings - Made of a mix of mercury and other metals including include silver, copper and tin. They are commonly called "silver fillings" and is one of the oldest fillings materials. Our office does not use amalgam b/c it can darken over time.
Since all the filling materials that our office uses will blend in with your natural teeth, you won't stand out when you smile or laugh like traditional metal fillings.
